About Me

Based in Sydney, Australia, my artistic journey began with studies in London, shaping a practice dedicated to bringing forgotten women from history into vibrant contemporary focus. Through intimate portraits meticulously painted with acrylic on unprimed cotton canvas, I aim to illuminate the lives and legacies of those historically marginalised.

A defining characteristic of my work is the powerful and consistent use of vibrant pink pigment. Far from a delicate flourish, this deliberate color choice serves as a potent symbol of the strength and resilience embodied by the women I portray – individuals whose stories have often been overlooked or actively silenced.

The application of acrylic paint directly onto the raw, unprimed cotton is a crucial element of my process. This technique fosters a tactile immediacy, bypassing traditional layers and mirroring the urgency I feel in sharing these vital narratives. The absorbent nature of the unprimed canvas interacts uniquely with the paint, further emphasizing this direct connection. By consistently employing pink across these portraits of "unsung heroes," I create a visual thread that highlights their shared experience of historical erasure.

The choice of unprimed cotton canvas is a deliberate departure from artistic convention. This raw surface underscores the directness of my approach and reflects the unconventional nature of the histories I seek to reclaim. Working with acrylic on this receptive ground allows me to give a vibrant, pink voice to those who were once silenced, inviting viewers to engage with their stories and acknowledge their enduring significance.
