Based in Sydney, Australia, my artistic journey began with studies in London, shaping a practice dedicated to bringing forgotten women from history into vibrant contemporary focus. Through intimate portraits painted with acrylic on unprimed cotton canvas, I aim to illuminate the lives and legacies of those historically marginalised.

A defining characteristic of my work is the powerful and consistent use of vibrant pink pigment. Far from a delicate flourish, this deliberate color choice serves as a potent symbol of the strength and resilience embodied by the women I portray - individuals whose stories have often been overlooked or actively silenced.

The application of acrylic paint directly onto the raw, unprimed cotton is a crucial element of my process. This technique fosters a tactile immediacy, bypassing traditional layers and mirroring the urgency I feel in sharing these narratives. The absorbent nature of the unprimed canvas interacts uniquely with the paint, further emphasising this connection. By consistently employing pink across these portraits, I create a visual thread that highlights their shared experience of historical erasure.

The choice of unprimed cotton canvas is a deliberate departure from artistic convention. This raw surface underscores the directness of my approach and reflects the unconventional nature of the histories I seek to reclaim. Working with acrylic on this receptive ground allows me to give a vibrant, pink voice to those who were once silenced, inviting viewers to engage with their stories.
